• 1 5-gallon bucket with a lid for your gear. It will also serve as your chair. (Make sure your name and family name is on the bucket) You will use a bucket (no bigger than 5 gallon) with a lid as your dual-function suitcase and seat for Rescue! It is a sturdy, waterproof suitcase, and it conveniently doubles as a camp chair. You may decorate your bucket and prepare a "seat cover/cushion" if you wish. Check with your ward leaders to see if they are doing an activity to "beautify" buckets. Make sure it has a screw on lid.
• Personal Journal, Pen, Paper Scriptures
• 1 warm sleeping bag, put inside a large heavy-duty plastic garbage bag. No larger than 33 gallons.
• 1 warm blanket and 1 small pillow, put inside the same bag as the sleeping bag - put a piece of duct tape with your name and family number written on the outside.
• 1 extra heavy-duty garbage bag in case it rips (No larger than 33 gallons).
• 1 jacket or coat
• 1 rain poncho
• 1 pair of tough gloves
• 1 pair of shoes to hike in. (Don't buy new ones -- they will give you blisters. Sturdy running or tennis shoes will work fine if you don't have hiking boots)
• 1 pair of water shoes, opportunities will arise to cross rivers and streams, a 2nd pair of shoes will be most helpful in preventing any foot problems, Blisters etc.
• 4 pairs of sturdy good socks.
• 2 sets of underclothing
• 1 small hand towel or washcloth
• Comb or brush
• 1 small pack of wet wipes
• Toothbrush/toothpaste
• Band-Aids and prescribed medications
• Chapstick
• Insect repellent and sunscreen
• Hat
• Sunglasses
• Mini Toiletries, small bar of soap, in a zip lock bag
• Deodorant
• 1 refillable water bottle with a carabiner to be hung on the side of the handcart
• Toilet Paper, 1⁄2 of a roll, in case of emergencies
• 1 flashlight or headlamp, new batteries
• Optional: lightweight flip flops or water shoes for the river crossing - most people go barefoot
